We are four Berlin-based curators who have been collaborating in irregular rhythms for years
in different constellations and projects. Lorena, Anaïs, and Sylvia were part of the curatorial and production team for the exhibition Capitalo, Chthulu, and a Much Hotter Compost Pile at
Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien in 2018. They invited Sonia to be part with a workshop within
their program of events. One year later, Anaïs made her exhibition The Heavy Air That Surrounds Us at Galerie im Turm, inviting Sonia to join her in the writing of an audio piece.
During the pandemic, Anaïs, Sylvia, and Sonia developed the project Aliens Are Temporary – A
Mutating Tale, which took place at Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien and was followed by another exhibition at Kunstbrücke am Wildenbruch. A program of events took shape under the name of “mutations”. One of them was a reading group lead by Lorena.
Conversations about a new project started between the four of us in late 2023. The desire to work together again was matched by the wish to create something that could move grow across Berlin, in different places and at different moments. As we talked, the possibility of bringing together several community galleries across the city emerged. From there, what we now call Louder, Taller, Uglier, Weirder— Learning from Weeds began to take shape. We are joined and inspired by many artists and collaborators; by the teams at Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien, Galerie im Turm, Bärenzwinger, and Galerie im Körnerpark; and by accomplices from other venues and spaces across the city. All of them appear and take root alongside us, guided by weeds, intuition, trust... and uncertainty.

2026,
