Rosanna Graf creates videos, performances, and installations that interweave historical, mythological, and pop-cultural material into speculative fictions featuring feminist, non-human, and grotesque figures. Graf opens up surreal in-between worlds oscillating between humour and unease, resisting their own stereotyping.
Inspired by historical figures of resistance, Rosanna Graf’s video work explores the power of female anger—an emotion that is still often dismissed, made taboo, or pathologized. At its center are five women who break free from social rules, transforming their suppressed emotions into a collective act of ecstasy. The mandrake, a myth-laden nightshade plant known both as a remedy and a poison, becomes a symbol of untamed self-empowerment and resistance.
